SeaStrike 240 CC – The Super Yacht Tender!

The SeaStrike 240 CC, one of the most functional and comfortable center-consoles in its class, makes a great tender for larger yachts, says Tom Thies, president of S1 Marine, maker of SeaStrike and Sport Craft Boats.

“While the primary market is still people who want a great 24 center console, we’ve found increasing interest among owners of boats in the 50-plus foot range who are looking for an easily towable or even haulable boat.  Weighing in at a little over 3,000 lbs without an engine, it adds extreme versatility to complement just about any larger boat,” he notes.

“They’re looking for something more substantial than a large inflatable, a boat they can use to ferry passengers to and from town while the large craft is at anchor as well as a boat they can use to run off 50 or 100 miles for a day fishing or exploring or diving,” he adds.  “The shallow draft allows it to be beached just about anywhere, and it is appropriate for all but the skinniest flats.”

The SeaStrike 240 CC is 23'10" overall, with an 8'6" beam.  It weighs about 3,100 lbs. and draws only 15" of water.  Deadrise is 17 degrees. Its integrated fuel tank holds 157 U.S. gallons, giving it an extended range of over 400 miles at cruising speed with a 225 hp outboard.

The boat features SeaStrike's well-known smooth, dry-riding hull.  Everything to make it a great fishing boat is incorporated into its standard equipment, as is just about everything to make it comfortable and convenient as a family boat…only the enclosed head and some of the rails are optional!

The famous SeaStrike ride comes from the way the chines on the boat work to make the ride extraordinarily dry, as they push water away from the boat. The boat also handles well in rough seas, providing a smoother ride with no "slam" effect.

While only the fisherman (or woman) can catch the fish, a great fishing boat should be designed by people who know fishing to maximize the opportunities to actually catch fish.  The SeaStrike 240 CC does this in every way.  It has a large forward casting deck as well as a large cockpit.  It has a complete aft rigging station with everything at hand to minimize lines-out-of-the-water time.  It has eight rod holders - four in the gunwales and four in the standard leaning post. Four rocket launchers that are an inherent part of the optional T-top are also available. An electronics box is also available on the optional T-Top for those who want to increase the available room for their electronics or additional storage. It also has two covered lockable built-in rod storage boxes and a large in-deck fish box in front of the console.

The helm station incorporates well-thought-out external space for extensive flush mounted electronics. It has standard console leaning post seating for two, an optional deluxe leaning post, a properly positioned windscreen and a fully hydraulic steering system. To make it as family-friendly as possible, the lockable walk-in center console storage area can be converted for the optional integrated head with close to six feet of headroom.

The casting deck has three large storage compartments. Combined, they create an uninterrupted area nearly 7' across at its widest, and when the standard equipment cushions and bow filler plate are added, they convert from a casting platform to a comfortable sun lounge.

Thus, in addition to being a great fishing boat, this is a family-friendly boat for people who just want to cruise or have fun when not fishing.  It has thoughtfully planned out space and seating areas including a U-shaped bow area with snap-in cushions that seats four, and a bench for two is molded into the front of the console, room for large coolers, and of course, an optional head.  It's fast enough for wakeboarding or water skiing and spacious and stable enough to serve as a diveboat as well.

One of the most important parts of fishing is getting from here to there.  Knowledgeable individuals who have ridden in it say, "This is one fast boat!" The SeaStrike 240 is rated for up to 300 hp, with packages that include a single 225, single 250, twin 115s or twin 150s.

Sometimes the little things make the biggest difference.  There's a freshwater handheld shower near the aft bait station - perfect for a quick spritz after cutting bait, or with the 13-gallon freshwater tank, a longer shower on a hot day.  There's also a sink with a storage unit underneath.

The SeaStrike 240 has two-25 gallon fish boxes, a 55-gallon fish box, a 36-gallon livewell, and a 9-gallon livewell. The bait and tackle rigging station incorporates complete tackle storage and a cutting board.  There's also a raw water washdown to keep the entire area clean.

All rails - bow, hand and grab - are made of anodized aluminum. They are specially selected and welded for the design of this boat, and then thru-bolted to recessed nuts.  All hardware is properly incorporated, from cleats to recessed hinges, and all wiring is encapsulated in conduit. For safety's sake, in addition to a self-bailing cockpit, the 240 has an automatic bilge pump and built-in foam flotation that exceeds the US Coast Guard standards.

In terms of construction, the hull and inner liner are hand-laid with the finest biaxial fiberglass, and overlapped at the keel and other major stress points.  The fiberglass and foam stringer system is built in the same manner and they are permanently built into the boat prior to hull and deck assembly, creating an extremely strong boat free of any distortion on the running surface.  The hull and liner are permanently bonded together in molds and cured for 24 hours to create a single unit - this is the unique "knuckle" construction of the boat which is both chemically and mechanically bonded with through-hull bolts that hold the hull and deck together.

Starting in 2005, SeaStrike began offering a 10-year hull warranty that is transferable in the first five years. Suggested retail without power is $32,248.
